Former Georgia Congressman Bob Barr has been elected to the Libertarian Party National Committee. He will represent Region 4, which consists of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Barr has been a life member of the Libertarian Party for some time. He was in Congress as a Republican from January 1995 through January 2003.
Wow! I guess he must have changed some of his views. I always thought of him as a better fit with the Constitution Party than the Libertarian Party.
The CP and Libertarian Party are very similiar on alot of issues.
Both concentrate on a return to Constitutional Values, and small government.
Hooray for Bob Barr. I appreciate his willingness to serve on the National Committee.
OK, That does it for me. If Bob Barr is representing my Region than i’m signing up. (Actually I was going to join the Libertarian party anyway, this just gave me the shove i needed.:)
My account of the Barr appointment:
http://www.colliething.com/2006/12/bob-barr-appointed-to-lnc.html
“What this is about: The process by which Bob Barr was placed on the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) as representative of the Southeast (SE) region.
What this is NOT about: Bob Barr’s suitability for the position he was appointed to.
Essence of the matter: The chairs of the SE region did not act against rules in the appointment of Bob Barr to the LNC, but they did act inappropriately.”
The major difference between the Constitution Party and Libertarian Party is there difference on immigration. Constitution Party close the borders and Libertarian Party wants open borders.
Um, no,. there are a lot more differences than that. Barr also differs with both parties in that he supports the drug war, including at the federal level.
