On December 16, the Libertarian Party announced that its 2008 presidential convention will be May 23-26, 2008, in Denver. The hotel will be Adam’s Mark Hotel.

Dang,
The LP beat us to the punch with their national convention site announcement. Good luck to my Libertarian friends at their convention.!
The Constitution Party will probably be announcing the site and time of our National Convention in the next couple of months, certainly no later than at our next national committee meeting in Boise, Idaho in late April of ’07.
E-everybody…
I hope to see you there.
Ron Paul for president as a joint CP-LP candidate! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. No-one else could get these two to join up, but I think maybe he could.
How about Steve Kubby as a “joint” Libertarian-Green candaidate? I was at the national office and we discussed Kubby-WannaDubie ’08. It was a joke, kinda, but at least not as lame a joke as merging with the “Constitution Party”. Or going back to failed strategies from 20 years ago for that matter.
Merging with the Green Party would be a joke as well.
Kubby is a Libertarian all the way, and the Greens won’t nominate him. As his National Volunteer coordinator I don’t think association with the greens would help his campaign.
Yes, I did say it was a joke.
But it would be fun to try, just to get Greens to do a little thinking and possibly make some contacts. In fact that might be worth exploring in all the parties – make a secondary, far less serious attempt to alos get their nominations, and maybe make a few converts in the process.
Also, with the boo!rtzification of the LP continuing apace with Bob Barr now on the LNC, we need a plan B in case the LP gets Boortzified all the way. Perhaps the Boston Tea Party or something similar.
Don’t discount the possibility of taking over the Greens with exiled true libertarians.
We could keep the ten key values, but totally change the current “watermelon green” platform of the GP to be much more libertarian in achieving those values.
Before we resort to that, I agree we should try to pass a good LP platform in 2008, nominate Kubby and rescue the party back from the Boortz-neofascist Republitarian slime.
But we might lose.
We need a backup plan.
The sad thing is the people who think we are not significantly different from the CP and should merge are actually serious (and not just one or two people, either).
