Congressman Tancredo Campaign Staffed with 2 Former Reform Party Activists

Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-Colorado) set up a Committee last month to explore his chances of seeking the Republican presidential nomination. The treasurer of that committee is Ken C. McAlpin, and his New Hampshire chair is Shelly Uscinski. Both were active in Pat Buchanan’s Reform Party presidential campaign in 2000. However, a spokesperson for the Tancredo committee says Tancredo absolutely will not run for president in 2008 unless he is the Republican nominee.

  1. Congressman Tancredo, why not run as an Independent as Joe Lieberman did. The media basically has 4/5 Republician candidates they are talking about, why not enter through a different door instead of passing through the door behind several other men.

    Sincerely,

    Pat Ross

  2. Perhaps Rep. Tancredo actually thinks that he might be able to win the Republican Party nomination. Not that that would be would be all that helpful to him. The GOP will not win the next presidential election (nor any other presidential election ever) and it will be a minority-sized political organization by 2012. That is something that I have been writing for the last couple of years or so. However, not everyone has received the message yet – nor believes it, in any case.

  3. I just cannot see Tancredo’s effort[s] progressing in any thing like a straight line journey. This will be a winding torturous twisty road to November 2008. Ya heard it here first: Maybe three mid course corrections toward the general election.

  4. If republicans have any sense Tom will be the republican candidate , But we know that wont happen. Corp. powers wont let it . He should run as an indy-republican !! He just might win .

  5. My friend, Don Lake, is absolutely correct about the 2008 presidential elections. Furthermore, there most likely will be surprises that we can not even imagine at the present time.

  6. As much as I dislike the repub-demo parties, anyone that thinks the repubs will be a minor party by 2012 is grossly underestimating the corp. powers and money that is at work in our politics !

  7. Not only is Tancrdo a huge longshot, he’s mucking up the chances of my favorite longshot, Dr. Ron Paul. If he drops out and endorses someone, his ideas might get play. If he stays in, not so much.

  8. Giuliani may be hot right now but I think he will fade rapidly as his personal life comes into light. Tancredo appeals to true conservatives, independents, and constitutionalists. He has done so with one sentence , ” I vowed to protect and defend the constitution not the republican party”. If he gets a chance to show himself he will do well.
