On June 2, the Idaho Republican Party passed a resolution that the party’s primary should be closed to everyone who doesn’t indicate that he or she is a member. The vote was 88-58. It is not clear if the party will now sue the state to implement the policy. Thanks to Steve Rankin for this news. Idaho has no partisan registration.
The Idaho Republicans may await the outcome of either the Virginia Republicans’ or the Mississippi Democrats’ suit before taking legal action. There’s also a closed-primary movement among South Carolina Republicans, and they seem to have a wait-and-see approach.
