It’s Official: No Democratic Delegates From Michigan as well as Florida

On December 1, the Democratic National Committee stripped Michigan of all its delegates to the August 2008 national convention in Denver. The move had been expected, since Michigan will select delegates at a January 15 primary. National Democratic rules forbid any state except Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina from choosing delegates before February.

Michigan Democrats are now in the same position as Florida Democrats, who also have no delegates. The national committee vote was not unanimous, but it was a voice vote, so there is no tally.

  1. The LAWLESS Mich MORONS even had a story about them on the NBC Nightly News on Sat. Dec. 1, 2008.

  2. Cheesh, I wonder who the anti-war Democratic are going to vote for in the primaries. Come on, go Republican and vote for Paul because it seems that the Democrats don’t want your vote after all.

  3. The Green party would also greatly value the votes of those Michiganders and Floridians who are going to be effectively UNrepresented by the Democratic party.
What a scandalous and completely stupid move by that party. This completely proves without a doubt how top-down that organization is and how disinterested they are in the small “d” democratic process, a fact we in third parties are totally well aware of already.
Don’t just sit there and accept this disrespect- register and vote Green in ’08.
Kucinich will never be allowed to win the primary anyway, and as we’ve learned after the mid-terms, war will continue, impeachment will continue to be off the table.

  4. I happen to be in Mich — much too near to the arrogant EVIL MORON Donkey / GOP leaders who are committing political suicide.

    Democracy NOW.

ABOLISH the STONE AGE minority rule Electoral College and ALL primaries / conventions.

Direct nomination of ALL candidates for ALL offices via nominating petitions.

P.R. for legislative bodies — Party Seats = Party Votes x Total Seats / Total Votes

Approval Voting for all executive and all judicial offices — Vote for 1 or more, highest win.

Way too difficult for the EVIL ANTI-Democracy MORONS in lots of regimes — for about 7,000 plus years.

  5. As I see it the most logical & disruptive action that
these 2 state parties should do in 2008 is to NOT
permit the Democraic nominee (whoever he is) to put
their name on the November ballot. This could be done
at their usual State Convention or a special session
called after the Democratic National Convention ends
in Denver next August. Then the Democratic nominee
would have to go through the procedure of preparing
a write-in campaign in those 2 states. An event that
would almost certainly lead to the Republican nominee
winning both states & probably the election. This is
just retribution for the way they interferred with
    Nader’s campaign in 2004.

  6. I know who the GOP should get to do their television ads in Michigan and Florida. The Soup Nazi–“NO DELEGATES FOR YOU!!”

  7. All democrats who wish to have an impact on the presidential contest are invited to declare their indpendence – leave the democratic party and register to vote as independents.

In fact, any voters who are tired of these typical political suppression tactics should register independent, and boycott the established party primaries, debates, candidate visits and news items.

If 33 million voters do this, then we will succeed in electing neither of the established parties…

  8. Deemer, I like your idea. It punishes the DNC for its stupidity. If FL and MI don’t list the Democratic ticket, this will certainly bring good chances for third parties to poll in the double digits in both states. Could any of you imagine the Libertarian ticket taking FL and the Green ticket taking MI? That would be sweet.

  9. There is only one anti-war / occupation candidate and that is Ron Paul, always has been, always will be. I know a lot of Democrats have these same beliefs and have switched to the Republican party to vote for Paul. I believe that this will be much more common now in Michigan and Florida since they have an open primary and the Democrats will have only one candidate(Paul) if they want to make their vote even count.
