On December 5, at 5 pm central time, filing closed for Republicans running in the Illinois presidential primary. Candidates needed 3,000 signatures. The Illinois State Board of Elections web site shows that the following Republicans filed: Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Alan Keyes, John McCain, James Creighton Mitchell, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, and Fred Thompson.
The web site shows that Mike Huckabee did not file until 4:56 pm on November 5. The State Board of Elections did not post notice that he had filed for 45 minutes. An earlier post here wondered if Huckabee had filed, but he did.
Err, you mean December 5, not November, don’t you.
BTW Ron Paul’s campaign filed 24,000+ signatures.
Hmm, I wonder if that means that he has more support than polls would indicate.
Huckabee appears to have filed, and there is a lottery for order on the ballot. At least that appears to be my reading of the law, the lottery is 10 days after the filing deadline.

Alan Keyes is a former Diplomat and has run for the Republican Presidential nomination in the past (1996 & 2000).
Alan Keyes ran against Barak Obama and lost for Senator in Illinois. Mr. Keyes was a transplant form Maryland?? because of the sex scandal with our original Repulican candidate who’s name escapes me. Barak Obama actually stumbled in to his party’s candidacy as well.
