West Virginia Presidential Primary

Filing closed on January 26, Saturday evening, for the West Virginia presidential primary. Candidates needed a fee of $2,500, but no petition.

The Democratic ballot will list only Clinton, Edwards and Obama. This is the least crowded Democratic presidential primary ballot of any state so far. Of course, that is because most of the Democrats running for president had already dropped out.

The Republican ballot will list Jerry Curry of Haymarket, Virginia; and the expected Giuliani, McCain, Paul and Romney. The West Virginia primary is in May. Although Mike Huckabee hasn’t filed yet, if he mailed his check with a January 26 postmark, he can still qualify.

The Mountain Party is ballot-qualified and could have had its own presidential primary, but it chose not to. It is the West Virginia affiliate of the Green Party.

  1. West Virginia is holding its GOP presidential convention next week, at which time 1,446 delegates will select the state’s GOP nominee. Mike Huckabee filed for that, as did Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain.

  2. Who on earth besides a sliver of the people who read Ballot Access News even knows that someone named Jerry Curry is running? What’s the point? Since he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the Republican nomination, why doesn’t he run for the Constitution or American Party nomination?

  3. Fred Thompson’s followers know, thousands who have seen the Curry for America campaign ad in OK know and even more who have seen him on Fox and Friends know. People from 51 different countries have visited the website in the last 2 weeks and the number of hits is tripling daily. Jerry Curry is the next President of the United States of America!

It’s never to late to do what’s right!

  4. That’s right, Leah. Abraham Lincoln,Babe Ruth and Thomas Edison didn’t give up even though they failed in the beginning!! Taking that first step is necessary to reach the goal!

Will Bates: If you believe that, then do something. Be part of creating the groundswell of support for Jerry Curry!

  5. I’m an Independent voter who thinks every State should have an open election….if you really want a President of the people, by the people, and for the people!!!! Thank you for letting me sound-off.
