On April 1, the Alaskan Independence Party state officers decided that the party will again nominate the Constitution Party’s presidential nominee. The Alaskan Independence Party also followed that policy in 2004.
This gives the Constitution Party ballot access for president in 19 states currently. Four years ago at this point in the cycle, it was only on in 16 states.
who has the edge for the constitution party nod? please tell me its not alan keys.
Does anyone think a strong showing of 2 or 3% by the Constitution Party could help Obama? McCain is fairly moderate and could leave/is leaving many conservavtives dissatisfied.
I can’t really answer Will Bates question, but I can say this: If you are a CP supporter and want to have a say, contact your local state party and see if there is still an opening to be a delegate with a vote. The decision will be made at the convention in Kansas City!!
The Leadership has not put in the “fix” and nor will the party be swept away by newcomers who do not commit themselves to the longterm. (Not to say that any newcomers are coming in with that attitude–the evidence is to the contrary) Newcomers should respect and embrace the party and the basic provisions of the platform and party regulars need to embrace the fact that without a lot of new people, some of whom may not yet be totally on board with every single plank in the platform, the party won’t grow. Do we want an endless big tent like the GOP? NO. We also don’t want to be able to fit the party into a phone booth either.
AND GOD BlESS RICHARD WINGER’S YEARS OF EFFORTS THAT HAVE DONE MUCH TO ASSURE THAT AMERICANS STILL HAVE CHOICES, WHATEVER THEY ARE. THANKS, RICHARD! SUBSCRIBE TO BALLOT ACCESS NEWS. THE NEWSLETTER HAS LOTS OF GREAT STUFF NOT POSTED HERE. I CERTAINLY REGRET THE YEARS I FAILED TO SUBSCRIBE AND FEEL GREAT GUILT AND REGRET FOR IT BECAUSE WITHOUT YOU THE REST OF US GREEN, LP, CP AND OTHERS WOULD BE STUMBLING AROUND IN THE DARK A LOT!!
“Biess” is a rare germanic word for bless. OK, I lie. Damn clumsy fingers!
McCain is far left. He wants OPEN Borders as does Obama. Any person, who votes for McCain or Obama gets what they desire.
Too many conservatives think they are pure and will not support the CP candidate, but would run back to the the Republican party. What a joke.
We can fight on one front for the next four years (Democrats), or we can fight on two (Democrats in front of us and McCain sticking a knife in our backs).
McCain is “far left?” What does that make Ralph Nader?
Why doesn’t the AIP just simply become the Alaska affiliate of the CP? Or have they done that already?
It would be nice to at least know who is/are seeking the CP nomination, since the convention will be held in a few weeks.
The AIP will not officially affiliate with the CP, as I understand it, because they take no stand on some of the social issues the CP does have a stand on, such as abortion. Some old-time AIPers, I have been told, are staunchly opposed to adding social issues to the platform of the AIP, but they recognize that the CP’s presidential nominee generally comes closest to their platform of any national party. In many ways the AIP’s platform is very Alaska-centric and not well suited to a national affiliation.
