The original date of the state convention of the American Independent Party of California was to have been June 6. However, the state chair cancelled that event. Since he had not set a new date, a majority of the other state officers have chosen June 28-29, at the Westin Hotel at the Los Angeles Airport.
The state convention will choose the party’s candidates for presidential elector. Thus, the state convention has the power to decide which presidential candidate, Chuck Baldwin or Alan Keyes, will be listed on the November ballot. Currently, it seems extremely likely that the June state convention will choose presidential elector candidates pledged to Baldwin, who is the Constitution Party’s presidential nominee.
How did the California AIP elect such a nut for chairman ? Its because good men do not want to stand up and do the work.
I hope all works out for the best.
WRONG DATE RICHARD!
THE CORRECT DATES ARE SATURDAY, JUNE 28, FOR THE STATE CONVENTION AND SUNDAY, JUNE 29, FOR THE STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING AT THE WESTIN HOTEL AT LAX.
[State law requires that the State Convention be on a Saturday and the SCC on the following day (Sunday)]
OTHERWISE YOUR INFORMATION IS ACCURATE.
Thanks for the correction, Gary; I just fixed it.
What happened was Ed was a practical man and one of the most active in the AIP at the time, so he became the Chairman in 2006.
I had no idea would be would become, if we knew he was going to go off the deep end like this, he would not have been elected in the first place.
Shall we say your party is confusing? Okay, I’m an independent considering switching to the AIP. With a nominee like Alan Keyes, your party becomes instantly newsworthy and recognized. You’d receive my vote and many more. With an unknown like Baldwin, apologies to those of you who think anyone knows him outside of your inner circle, my vote will go to McCain.
I am Vice Chairman of American Independent Party of
California. The Convention will be in Sacramento,
California on July 5, 2008. The State Central Committee will meet at Sacramento on July 6, 2008.
Gary Odom errored on the dates and location. Under
the California Election Code 7608(b) both the
Convention and the organizational meeting of the
State Central Committee most be in Sacramento.
Sacramento County was the location for both in 2006
also. The AIP will hold the meeting in the Auditorium of the California Secretary of State
Building starting at 10:30 a.m. on both days.

Thanks, Mark Seidenberg, Vice Chairman, &
National Committeeman, American Independent Party
WRONG!
The Sacramento Convention on July 5th is NOT authorized and a bogus meeting.
Disregard this AIP’ers.
