The hearing for King vs. Bowen was held this morning in Sacramento. The case is to decide which faction of the California American Independent Party (AIP) has legal control of the state party, and therefore, which presidential ticket (Chuck Baldwin or Alan Keyes) will appear on the AIP line in California.
The judge promised to announce his decision by the end of today. Check Ballot Access News for the result.
I sure hope he decides in Baldwin’s favor!
Any bets?
If Keyes loses they will claim “conspiracy” and claim victory will be at hand in 2012.
If he wins, he will claim it is God’s will.
Funny how that works…
I’ll bet on the Baldwin faction myself.
Im REALLY hoping this comes down in favor of the Baldwin-faction.
It means 25,000 more votes.
Based on the relative size of the two factions and Noonan’s sad “this party only has four members” method of disaffiliating, I can only see this decision falling to Baldwin.
In this case, size does not matter.
Size doesnt matter, but Winger brought up good points. The Baldwin faction had more Central Committee members, more people overall, and is in agreement with the national party.
1) Keyes. 2) The CP will finally begin blaming Howard Phillips’ “speech” at the KC convention for causing the mess in the first place.
Logically it seems that the Baldwin faction should have the ballot line – but sadly its being decided by law rather than logic and so who knows.
I witnessed the behaviour at the bogus LA convention in late June and it was disgraceful by the AIP-CP faction group backing baldwin … those attendees belong with Howard Phillips and his disgraceful speech while promoting Baldwin he gave against Dr. Alan Keyes at the National CP convention in April (I was shocked to see such behaviour). Alan Keyes should be on the ballot based on following the official by-laws of the American Independent Party
The official bylaws are not taken into account by the California SoS, only election law.
I was a California delegate at the Constitution Party national convention, last April, in Kansas City. So was my wife Rebecca. We went there with the mindset that we would vote our conscious, Baldwin, Keyes whomever, and support “no matter WHO won”. After much mind rattling, the night before the vote count, we both, and many others apparently, decided to cast our vote for CHUCK BALDWIN. Lokking back, we are very proud we voted the way we did. WHY? Because, Chuck Baldwin supports the CP Platform 100%. The platform is what it is all about! It is our very “soul”…the soul of our party. Keyes did NOT support our platform 100% and did NOT even show that he was willing to compromise or be flexable towards our platform. THAT was his big mistake.
“WE” were NOT about to forsake our platform to another ‘neo-con’ opportunist. Thank God the CP convention denide Keyes the nomination. If THAT had happened, we would of ended up no better than the republicrats….no principle first.
I hope and pray the California Court rules in the favor of the AIP (American Independent Party) loyalists that are and have been for a long time, affiliated with the national Constitution party.
The very few “misfits”…Robinson, Seidenberg, and Noonan etc., do NOT represent the majority of the California AIP leadership, as much as they would like to. They are legends in their own mind.
After today’s ruling, thank God we can focus on the real work before us…’building the party…bringing in new members…campaigning for Chuck Baldwin & Darrell Castle and putting into place real safeguards against ANY future attempts by similiar misfits , in trying to cause problems.’
Eternal vigilance is the price of protecting the AIP.

Besides…even if the AIP deos goto Keyes, it’ll just returnt to the Baldwin-faction’s control within 2 years.
I have my fingers crossed that Baldwin will win this. I think he’s dead wrong on most issues, but at least he’s actually campaigning. Keyes seems to just use electoral campaigns as an opportunity to fatten his wallet and sit on his ass.
Is Keyes actually trying to get on the ballot anywhere else? I know he’s on in Calorado but seriously, how much effort does that take?
It doesn’t take any effort. You just write a check for $500 and turn in a slate of electors.
Same with Florida, except you have to be the nominee of a party with affiliates in more than one state. Again, no petitioning required.
But he’s not even petitioning for the low-hanging fruit – the states with fewer than 5,000 required sigs that even lesser known nominees of various socialist parties have successfully gotten on. Not even New Jersey, that only requires 800 sigs, Washington, Mississippi and Vermont which only require 1,000, Iowa which only requires 1,500, Wisconsin and Minnesota where he would only need 2,000… Keyes isn’t even trying.
His entire campaign seems like a money-making scheme, a scam much like the one in the Mel Brooks film, “the Producers”. You raise a lot of money, spend very little of it and pocket the rest while the campaign fails.
As far as I can tell, he hasn’t gotten a single signature yet.
He’s raised nearly half a million dollars since he first announced and as far as I can tell, he’s done two Republican debates, one half assed campaign swing through Northern Texas, the CP convention failure and the fraud convention for the AIP…. and that’s the full breadth of his effort so far.
It just takes $500 to get on the ballot in Colorado … just the money, no signatures required or evidence of any other support.
In any state where a potential candidate needs to actually demonstrate support or provide a list of electors, the Keyes people fall flat.
I actually feel bad for Alan Keyes … there are only about six people still posting on his America’s Revival campaign site discussion board, and maybe five to ten people on his conference call updates.
His campaign manager, Tom Hoefling, has pretty much alienated any support that Alan had left after Illinois. But Alan loves his sycophants, and Tom Hoefling fits that bill nicely.
And a few of the posters at that site are non-supporters gingerly stepping there getting ready for a very funny day.
Borat II approaches!
As far as I know–Keyes isnt even trying to get on the LA ballot, which is JUST as easy as Colorado.
Borat II … ha ha.
Yeah, Borat and the Michael Moore “crowd surfing” scene are about the only things that 99.9% of all Americans know about Alan Keyes.
Well this will definitely be interesting to find out who wins. I’m hoping that the Neocon loses.
The case by King, James (or at least “The Man Who Would be King”) against the American Independent Party was dismissed. Details to follow.
What case is this?

MY RESPONSE: I was at the convention in Los Angeles, and it was extremely well ordered, somber, and professional. No offense, but I dont believe you were there Paul. There was not one thing that could be described as “disgraceful”.
Both my wife Rebecca and I were there at the Westin Hotel, near LAX, for the State AIP Convention and the State AIP State Executive Meeting, last June 2008.
It was orderly, professional, and legal. We hired an out of state parlimentarian, to make sure all of our “t”‘s were crossed and our “i”‘s were dotted.
A petition was signed by all AIPer’s present and the MAJORITY of the statewide AIP leadership was present. Chuck Baldwin came and addressed our group. EVERYTHING was video taped and recorded. Minutes were taken. I saw NO disruption, no discord, and no disgracefulness on the part of anyone. Whomever you are “PAUL”, with your ridiculas remarks….you do NOT know what you are talking about. WE have complete video and documentation on our side. -Larry Breazeale, Msgt.(ret.)USAF, Nat. Chrm. NVC/CP and Chrm. Orange County Central Committee AIP.

Response : As the real Vice-Chairman of the real AIP I say that ” Paul ” is a liar. The Los Angeles convention was the legitimate and legal convention of the AIP. The entire convention was run completely legitimately in total contrast to the Noonan/rat convention in Sacramento which broke numerous party by-laws and had less than 1/2 the attendance of Los Angeles. The Noonan/Keyes/rat faction did NOT follow the by-laws of the party.

Response : Markham Robinson is a lying and totally corrupt individual; a Republican operative who has – AT THIS POINT – succeeded in his goal of destroying the AIP. His day of reckoning is coming and it will be much sooner than his arrival in hell to answer for his corruption. The real AIP, of which I am the Vice-Chairman, will, no matter how long it takes, defeat the utter and complete corruption of Robinson, Noonan, Seidenberg, and ( especially ) Keyes.
