Why is Ron Paul on the ballot-access chart. He is on the ballot in two states.
Good point, Hugh Jass. I just e-mailed my webmaster to add him. I can’t change the chart myself.
A quick question. If Paul were to get 5% in both MT and LA, will he get the same match funding the Ross Perot got?
No, the 5% (for public funding) means nothing unless it is 5% of all the votes cast in the United States.
Thanks for clearing that up, Mr. Winger. Keep on fighting the good fight!
a complete list of all parties that are on the ballot in at least two states for president, â€
Apparently it’s actually a list of all the CANDIDATES (not parties) that are on in at least two states . . .
One would have to imagine that votes for libertarian Ron Paul would be more then Chuck Baldwin in Montana and the Constitution party needs 5% of the governor’s vote to stay a qualified political party. Libertarian voters will have two choices in November.
As long as they were determined to snub Chuck Baldwin I think they should have at least made Barry Goldwater, Jr. his running mate like the folks in Louisiana did.
The vote test for Montana parties is met if ANY statewide candidate polls a number of votes equal to 5% of the winning gubernatorial candidate’s vote. The Montana Constitution Party has a candidate for Secretary of State, who will easily poll enough votes to keep the Constitution Party on the ballot. So the Constitution Party was safe anyway, regardless of its presidential vote.
I can see it now: McCain carries Montana because Bob Barr and Ron Paul split the libertarian vote!
Clifford,
The “splitting” of the libertarian vote wouldn’t help McCain at all, because if the libertarians would going to tip the election toward Obama without Paul on the ballot, his presence on the ballot wouldn’t convince anyone to vote for McCain.
