It seems that Keyes did an ok job for a write-in candidate.
It’s become quite clear that only a fraction of Michigan totals were counted for Moore. We’ve received numerous reports from voters across the state who voted for Moore even in counties that reported zero write-in totals for Moore. Even Marquette County, where the Socialist Party of Michigan holds an active county-wide branch, reported zero votes having been cast for Moore!
One clearly impacting factor is that we properly certified Stewart Alexander as Moore’s vice presidential running mate in accordance with the Michigan Department of State Bureau of Elections’ instructions. The Michigan Bureau of Elections then silently decided that the inclusion of vice presidential candidates in presidential write-in votes are irrelevant, and therefore didn’t bother to include Alexander on the list of certified candidates that they provided to each Michigan County, which the counties then provided to each precinct. Nevertheless, they not only failed to provide county and precinct election workers with this new interpretation (which contradicts what they have listed on their own website), they also provided instructions for all precinct election workers stating that any write-in vote which includes the name of an unlisted candidate is invalid and must not be tallied! Therefore, it appears that while the vast majority of votes cast for Moore included VP candidate Alexander, virtually all votes that did so were marked disregarded as invalid and un-tallied! We are, however, also aware of votes cast simply for “Brian Moore” in Michigan counties that went un-tallied as well.
In addition to the systematic disregard of votes cast for Moore in Michigan, the chief officers at the Michigan Bureau of Elections hold such a degree of blatant contempt for write-in candidates, and the state law that allows them to become certified, that without any statutory basis, they refused to provide the names of certified write-in candidates on the official candidate listing, election results shell page, or any other page on any other page on the Secretary of State’s website whatsoever. They even went so far as to have notices sent to all precinct election workers that if voters ask to see the list of certified write-in candidates (which all were required to have in their position) they were to refuse to let voters see the list or disclose any of the names upon it!
Predictably, neither the Michigan Bureau of Elections, nor any of the counties we’ve contacted about known failures to tally votes for Moore, have so much as bothered to respond. The Socialist Party of Michigan is eager to pursue legal action to force the Department of State to fund a recount, as a result of its reckless actions having clearly misled election workers into wrongfully invalidating the majority of votes cast for our certified ticket.
The St. Clair county results show 9 votes for Alan Keyes and 0 votes for Brian Moore, but the state website shows 0 votes for Keyes from St. Clair county.
