Since it wasn’t mentioned, I assume the bill did not include the option of paying filing fees. Personally, unless the Federal Judge in the Shugart case makes some ruling that requires the legislature to lower the percentages, I am not holding my breath on it being passed.
Even if a miracle occurs and it passes, why in God’s heaven do some 3rd partisans and independents want to stand out in the hot sun or cold rain and “beg” for signatures? 1.5% for statewide in Alabama is still around 25,000 signatures – and you have to repeat this at each statewide election – unless the 3rd party gets the 20% vote major party threshold.
I just don’t understand some 3rd party and independent folks!
