The petition deadline for independent candidates, and the candidates of unqualified parties, in the New Jersey state elections this year is at the end of the day on June 2. In the gubernatorial race, already the Socialist Party has filed its petition, and five independents have filed, with probably some more petitions still to be filed. The 5 independents filing for Governor already are Christopher Daggett, Joshua Leinsdorf, Alvin Lindsay, Kostas Petris, and Gary Steele. The Socialist Party nominee is Greg Pason. UPDATE: Shannon Wright missed the deadline; see this news story.
More candidates, more democracy!
I would support the Socialist Candidate in NJ.
As of 6 pm there were ten independent candidates; former EPA administrator Christopher J. Daggett (I);
’93 gubernatorial nominee attorney Kenneth R. Kaplan (L); frequent candidate Gregory “Greg” Pason (S); Jason Cullen (I); Joshua Leinsdorf (I); ’08 congressional candidate Alvin Lindsay Jr. (I); David R. Meiswinkle (I); Kosta Petris (I); attorney Gary T. Steele (I);
’08 congressional candidate Gary Stein (I). Still waiting to see if former Socialist Workers Party cnadidate Angela L. Lariscy (SW) or Brian D. Levine’s former campaign manager Shannon Wright (I) have filed petitions.
