With 87% of precincts reporting, CNN just reported that the Democrat, Bill Owens, is leading with 49% over Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman’s 45%. Republican Dede Scozzafava, who withdrew from the race a few days ago, is getting 6%.
There are over 11,000 absentee ballots that will not be counted tonight.
Thank God. I hope that the total outcome shows that Mr. Owens, the Democrat, is the winner.
So here’s a situation where the Republicans cost, what many believe was a good conservative the race. Can we now call the Republicans the spoiler.
Latest: The Democrat, Bill Owens, is the winner. The Conservative conceded the race.
The San Francisco Chronicle says that in the NY-23, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Michelle Malkin were defeated.
How special…
A candidate’s concession doesn’t actually alter the legalities of who wins the election, and there are lots of votes still to be counted in that New York race.
So 6% of the votes still went to Scozzafava who dropped out of the race. I would guess that is a fair number for straight party voters. If you add 6% and 45% what do you get?
