Thanks to Independent Political Report for this story. The Wall Street Journal says here that Sharron Angle, this year’s Republican Party nominee for U.S. Senate, was a member of the Independent American Party between 1992 and 1997. She was one of the party’s sponsors when it re-qualified for the ballot in 1992. The Independent American Party is the Nevada affiliate of the Constitution Party. The Wall Street Journal does not mention the Constitution Party, but the newspaper’s story would have been of better quality if it had done so.
Sharron Angle is also lead plaintiff in a federal lawsuit, Angle v Miller, which challenges Nevada election laws that say that initiative petition circulators must certify that they know that each signer is a registered voter. The lawsuit makes the obvious point that a circulator can’t know that, unless conceivably a petitioner might possess a hand-held computer that links to the list of registered voters.
I wonder if this Sharron Angle was a “Secular Conservative” at heart when she was involved with the IAP, and realized these IAP folks are too “spiritual” and “Godly believing,” or if she is a “Christian or Social Conservative” who actually believes the GOP establishment is going to embrace her? I reserve judgment until I hear her speak and see WHICH issues she stresses – the social ones – or only the fiscal ones. That’s the best way to tell.
Sharron Angle is a constitutional conservative. She is a true citizen patriot and Reno native who will not change her mind when she rides the Tea Party wave to Washington. Compared to Reid, she’s definitely the RIGHT replacement. Don’t pay attention to lamestream media accounts… ask Nevadans! Sharron’s the real deal… the kind of person Scott Brown would HOPE to be! For the latest news on Reid’s retirement, check out my column and subscribe to the Reno Conservative Examiner!
Here is the real test of whether Sharron Angel is a “Christian or Social Conservative.” Where is her position on Alcohol, Tobacco, and Gambling, for starters? These 3 issues, each with their respective sphere of influence, causes Crime, Poverty, Health Problems, Lack of Productivity, Social costs, and higher law enforcment costs than any other issues combined. 40% of our taxes today go to pay for the problems caused repectively by these 3 issues.
Saying you are a “constitutional conservative” means nothing. Publicly taking “common sense” positions on issues that really affect the state of our nation, are most important.
Find out and tell me where Sharron Angle stands on those 3 main issues listed above, then I’ll tell you whether she is a “secular consevative” or a true “Christian or Social Conservative.”
Kelly: I have voted and financially supported Republican candidates and I can tell that you’re taking my support (and the support of people like me) for granted. To watch the Republican Party take positions well to the left of Barack Obama on national security has been very painful. As a veteran, I am certain taht this has and will hurt the me and women in the armed forces. The only “Tea Party wave” that’s happening is in primaries and other intraparty contests – Nevadans don’t have to vote for Sharron Angle this fall. Sharron Angle has denigrated the hospitality industry workers in the state and supports the end of Social Security and Medicare. I don’t understand why you think that Americans have to vote for crazy Tea Party fringe types that are emerging from the primaries.
Sharron, please: just do not even address Clinton. A simple reply for him is,
He is a real moral giant, isn’t he? enough said !!!
Good luck
Angle supports the cult Scientology and wants to finance their so called rehabilitation programs with taxpayers dollars.
Get the facts on Angle.

No Christian would support anything Scientology does.
Sounds like Senator Reid is a shoo in. Good job everyone!
My other comments were never posted, Richard. Are you limiting comments to just twice per article, or is the GOP stiffling my efforts to get out the truth about the “secular conservatives?”
Sharron Angle is a “secular conservative.” Her websites do NOT address the issues of Alcohol, Tobacco, or Gambling, which are with their respective spheres of influence, destroying the moral fabric of this nation, and causing 40% of our taxes to pay for the health care, social, and law enforcment costs associated with dealing with the problems respectively from the issues of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Gambling.
Sharron Angle wants to privatize Social Security and reduce many other government services so the wealthy will not have to pay as many taxes. She is definitely an apologist for “big business.”
If I lived in Nevada, I would vote for the IAP Senatorial nominee Tim Fasano. Even though he too may be a “secular conservative,” still votes cast for Fasanco will take away votes from Angle and help defeat this phoney “secular conservative.”
It’s time we “Christian and Social conservatives” teach the GOP establishment and “secular conservatives” that they do not control us and “we do have some place to go.”
I call on all Bible-believing Christians in Nevada to support Tim Fasano and not fall for the lies from the GOP establishment as well as the phoney “Tea Party” movement.
Vote for Tim Fasano!
I’m not censoring any comments. If someone posts a comment and it doesn’t appear, it must mean a technical computer problem is present.
Richard, I didn’t think you censored, but didn’t know because you do on some articles get swamped with responses, that you might for space sake, limit the responses per person.
I finally tried a 4th time (as the above shows) and got my comment posted. But what is more baffling is that the defenders of Sharron Angle are silent. Are they in shock because they have never heard of a Republican being accused of being a “secular conservative?”
I really think the battle has begun. “Christian and social conservatives” are tired of being taken for granted by “secular conservatives.” There is a difference and we “ain’t gonna take it any more!”
