Ben Manski, Green Party nominee for Wisconsin Assembly, 77th district, polled 31% in his race, not enough to win. The race was won by Democratic nominee Brett Hulsey, who had 49%. But Manski outpolled the Republican nominee, David Redick, who got 18%. The Constitution Party nominee polled 2%.
Janine Hansen, Independent American (Constitution) Party nominee for Nevada Assembly, 33rd district, polled 30.4%. The race was won by Republican nominee John Ellison, who got 51.2%. But Hansen outpolled Democratic nominee Michael McFarlane, who got 18.3%.
There are probably other minor party legislative nominees who outpolled one major party nominee in states such as Maine and Illinois.
City Council is the legislative body of Washington, DC. In Ward 1, Statehood Green Party nominee Nancy Shia has 9% of the vote, the Democrat has 81%, and the Republican has 7%.
In Ward 5, independent Kathy Henderson has 9% of the vote, the Democrat has 84%, and the Republican has 6%.
In both races, the Washington Post endorsement editorial gave no details on the Green or independent. In Ward 1, the Washington Post endorsed the Democrat, and in Ward 5, the Republican, who then came in third.
Janine tried her best, but still lost. However the 4 offices we won makes up for things, and I’m sure she has cemented the IAP as the second largest party in Elko County.
Dave Redick, who came in behind Ben Manski, is a former chair of the Wisconsin Libertarian Party. He has run for office several times in California or Wisconsin as either a Libertarian or a Republican.
