The Colorado Constitution Party only had 1,271 registered members in June 2010. Now it has 2,731. That is still very small, but the rate of growth is unusual. It is almost unheard of for any party to double its registration in a short time, unless it is doing a registration drive to qualify for the ballot. It seems clear that the growth is related to the publicity the party received when Tom Tancredo became its gubernatorial candidate.
Party registration statistics are slow to change. Even though the Republican Party is the dominant party in the south, the Democratic Party still has substantially more registered members than the Republican Party in all the southern states that have registration by party. The only states in which the Republican Party has more registered voters than the Democratic Party are Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.

Gee, you think?
It would be nice to see the ACP grow like us in Nevada
I understand the AIP in Nevada is isn’t that big, in terms of numbers, what are the numbers?
You mean ‘IAP’.
And if you think 62,000+ registered voters isn’t ‘that big’, then you need glasses buddy.
The only Southern states that register voters by party are Louisiana (since 1908), Florida, and North Carolina– unless one considers Oklahoma, Kentucky, and West Virginia to be Southern states.
What is the registered amount of Constitution Party voters in Utah?
The Utah Constitution Party has 2,879 registrants.
Thanks Richard! The ACP could surpass the the Utah affiliate soon.
Whoopeedo! You would have thought with a candidate of the stature of Tom Tancredo, the registration would have been closer to 10,000 by now. But it does help prove my theory I’ve defended for years. Most “independent” voters don’t give a “rats butt” about a political party – they are more interested in the candidate(s). Most of those votes Tancredo received were “independent-minded” Republicans, a few were “independent-minded” Democrats and the rest regular “independent” voters.
Well, its still growing now since the ACP is now a major party it should fare better in elections from now on.
Another article had the ACP as only having 30 paid members, so I image most states are the same where people may register with a political party, via the state, but they are not paid members in that sense. You pick a party that sounds good and vote. So with Nevada 62,000 registrations sounds good but what is the actual paid membership?
