On December 7, the British House of Lords passed an amendment to the bill that sets up a May 5, 2011 vote in Great Britain on whether to use Instant Runoff Voting for House of Commons elections.
The amendment says that the vote should be at any time in 2011 that is no later than October 31, 2011; but that the vote can’t be on May 5, 2011, the date the House of Commons had chosen for the measure. Parts of Great Britain are already holding other elections on May 5, 2011, but other parts aren’t. The majority in the House of Lords feels that it would be improper to hold the IRV vote on the same day that some parts of the nation are voting on other matters. The fear is that this would skew the national vote on the IRV measure. Voter turnout would not be uniform throughout the nation. Thanks to Thomas Jones for this news.

THE method to elect even more Stalin/Hitler clones (with majority *mandates* from Hell) in the U.K. — as if the gerrymander plurality system has not been EVIL enough since the 1200s in the Dark Age in England.

The LibDems are doing their EVIL calculations and hoping to win even more gerrymander seats in the regime.
Do NOT be surprised if the Cons and Labs conspire to wipe out ALL third parties.
Do NOT be surprised if the LibDems conspire with Lab to directly enact P.R. and stop any referendum.
EVIL games in a regime with NO written constitution — with SEVERE hostility between the left Labs and the right Cons. — see Donkeys vs Elephants in the U.S.A.
P.R. and App.V.
From the Parliament’s website itself, describing the vote. It appears to be only preliminary and discussions continue. It is also described here as a “contingency” in case the May 5th date can’t be kept. It was also an extremely close vote, 199 to 195, and I just don’t know how much power the House of Lords has to stop the House of Commons, which has already set the May 5th date.
07 December 2010 .
Members of the House of Lords voted in favour of an amendment that will allow flexibility on the date of the referendum to change the voting system at the next General Election, during the second day of committee stage of the Parliamentary Voting Systems and Constituencies Bill on Monday 6 December.
Lord Rooker introduced the amendment which allows the referendum to be held on any date before 31 October 2011. Lord Rooker explained that the amendment would mean that government could still fulfill their intention of having the referendum on 5 May 2011, but that it is a ‘contingency and a lifeboat’ if this was not possible.
The Deputy Speaker, Lords Geddes, explained to the House that if Lord Rooker’s amendment was agreed to amendments 7 to 12, which were also proposals concerning the date of the referendum, could not be considered.
The amendment was agreed to – a defeat for the government by 199 votes to 195.
ANY party hack defeat in the House of Lords = pack the Lords with more party hacks and/or wipe it out some more or even totally.
NO written constitution in the U.K. regime = ANY thing can happen.
See the Defense of the Realm Acts in 1914 and 1939 = Prime ministers as DICTATORS (being nice tools of the monarchy, of course, during war times).
The various regimes in the U.K. are having various other elections on 5 May 2011 — by about 84 percent of the voters.
NO local voting in London however.
Thus the whining about confusion, etc. by the usual suspects in the regime — especially after the infamous 2007 Scotland election fiasco — one of THE worst in world history.
Apparently many of the Brit party hack elites regard the voters as totally stupid and barely able to vote for one party hack candidate for one office using one ballot.
Thank Heaven for 4 July 1776 on the west side of the Atlantic Ocean.
See the Hansard [U.S.A. – Congressional Record] for the nonstop MORON whining debates on everything connected with the U.K. referendum – date, question, etc. etc. etc.
Little wonder than the Brit Empire fell apart due to the 2 world wars — too many folks with any brains got killed off ???
