Possible Special California Statewide Election in June 2011 Will Probably Advance Vote-by-Mail

California Governor Jerry Brown is likely to call a special election for June, 2011, for votes on proposed tax and budget questions. It is likely that some counties will do whatever they can to eliminate polling places for this election, and depend entirely on mail ballots. For example, see this story about Humboldt County.

Oregon is the only state that votes entirely by mail. Washington votes entirely by mail except for one county, and the Secretary of State is urging the Washington legislature to pass a bill requiring all counties to use only mail ballots.

  1. What percentage of the 2008 and 2010 general election ballots were done by snail mail — including those from the military fighting the BARBARIANS in Asia ???

History note – absentee ballots got going big time due to the Union Army and Navy during Civil WAR I fighting the slave oligarchy forces (aka so-called Confederate Army and Navy).

Any less disease in all mail areas — i.e. flu ???

  2. Assuming the Special Election is called, it will be very interesting to see how the Propositions that are now suddenly going to be on an earlier ballot than expected handle that problem. Particularly fund-raising and when to mail out their literature if many Counties with a substantial percentage of the total registered voters decide to abandon ALL their voters to the U. S. mails. Then again, requiring every single voter for every single election in the Country to Vote by Mail just might eliminate the enormous deficit Congress has saddled the Post Office with over the past few years.

  3. #2 How much of snail mail is for govt bills – taxes and utilities ???

Who reads ANY snail mail junk mail ??? — i.e. more stuff in the trash.
