On March 8, the Oklahoma Senate unanimously passed SB 602, which moves the non-presidential primary from July to June, and also moves the petition deadline for a party to qualify itself from May 1 to March 1.

This is yet another outrage from Oklahoma! Why would they move the deadline for the new party petition from May 1st to March 1st? It should be clearly apparent as to why they want to do this, it’s because it means that new parties will have less time to gather petition signatures and that more of the petition signature gathering would have to be done in cold weather for any party that tries to get on the ballot in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma is one of the worst states in the country for ballot access.
