The March 29 (Sunday) New York Times has this review of Martin Duberman’s “A saving remnant: the Radical Lives of Barbara Deming and David McReynolds”. David McReynolds was the Socialist Party’s presidential nominee in 1980 as well as in 2000.
n 2004, he was also the Green Party’s nominee for U.S. Senate in New York.
In 1968, David McReynolds ran for Congress in Manhattan on the Peace & Freedom Party ticket. He challenged an incumbent Democrat who was re-elected, but McReynolds came in 4th out of 5 candidates on the ballot, behind the Liberal Party candidate, and ahead of Conservative Party candidate Bella Dodd.
Bella Dodd was an ex-Communist who had written about her time in the Communist Party in a now rare book called “School of Darkness.”
