  1. I know I’m feeding a crank here, but its worth remarking that the NDP is working in the tradition of a labor party, placing it within the socialist tradition of Jean Jaures, Clement Attlee, MJ Coldwell, etc.

When the NDP argues over whether or not to retain the term ‘socialism’ in the party constitution, the members are arguing about whether or not to retain the the specific Canadian heritage of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation.

So, lulz aside, the criticism doesn’t really make sense.

  2. Yeah, those poor oppressed downtrodden Danes, Swedes, and Norwegians! Just saying.

  3. If such a merger with the Liberal Party were to take place, I think the NDP may have to leave the Socialist International.

  4. @Bob

    No.

The Liberal Party is actually closer to the SI than the NDP is. The NDP is one of the most left-wing SI parties from an industrialized country.
