The July 3 Salt Lake Tribune has this story, which mentions that Utah State Representative John Dougall says he favors requiring parties to pay for their own nomination process. Dougall has been in the legislature since 2002 and is a Republican from American Fork. Thanks to Election Updates for the link.
P.R. and App.V. = NO primaries are needed or wanted.
Under a Top 2 Open Primary, parties can endorse whomever they want to.
I agree, they should pay for their own primaries, not the taxpayers.
I agree also, the parties – especially those in closed primary states – should foot the total bill for their primary – especially when they say a non-member who still happens to be a taxpayer, cannot vote in them. This is only fair.
