On October 18, Massachusetts holds a special election to fill the empty State House seat, in the Berkshire 3rd district. So far, Green Party nominee Mark Miller has more funds in his campaign bank account than any of his three opponents. He is opposed by a Democrat, a Republican, and an independent. See this story. Miller ran for this seat as a Green last year, and polled 45% of the vote in a two-person race against a Democrat.

Just like our Bill Atkinson received some 46% of the vote against a GOP candidate in a two way legislative special election race in Alabama. When the Greens, LP and us, in the CP, start to actually win a few of these races I really believe it will be very difficult to continue to marginalize us as we have been in the past, though it will still be a long, difficult climb. One thing that the GP, LP and CP can all agree on: Nobody promised us a rose garden. It’s a tough road, but it is far more satisfying than being swallowed up as a part of the corrupt duopoly machine.
