Americans Elect has announced a series of press conferences around the nation, to increase its own visibility, and to make its nomination process clearer to the public. The first event is at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on November 2. Four more events in November are at these locations: (1) Harvard University, Institute of Politics at the Kennedy School, on November 7; (2) University of Denver on November 10; (3) University of Southern California’s Unruh School of Politics on November 16; (4) Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee) on November 28.
Although I’m not a centrist, I seriously hope this group erodes the monopoly on power held by the two parties.
Yes, I hope they put forth someone who can make the two major candidates squirm and dance.
One can only hope the Americans Elect candidate will have his/her ideas more fully formed than this numskull governor from Texas…
Months into his campaign and NOW he comes forth with some patchwork tax reform plan. A plan he clearly did not have in mind a few months ago, or which he fully understands today.
Amateur hour…poured into cowboy boots.
I think it’s great to have a popular process for nominations for President. What bothers me is that there is little being done to help independent voters (the growing plurality) organize at the local and state level.
This new PAC – IndyAmericans.com– founded by we Texas independents, is first engaged n defeating that “numskull” from Texas, Rick Perry — and to find out what independents can do exercise some muscle in the 21 open primary states.

Linda, how is this PAC which is primarily focused on defeating Perry, presumably in the Republican primary or do you mean in Texas in general, going to help organize at the local and state level?
“Americans Elect” is the first real alternative to our two party system that I’ve been able to get excited about. Independents can join in with disgruntled Republicans, Democrats, and others in a way that can truly define the priorities that matter most to the the voting public and put forth candidates that can achieve those results. Once again I feel engaged, empowered, connected.
