Wisconsin Elections Officials Will Need Extra Time to Validate Signatures on Gubernatorial Recall Petition

Wisconsin state election officials say they will need more than the legally mandated 31 days to process the gubernatorial recall petition. This story says the signatures will be turned in next week, and there may be as many as 1,500,000 signatures. The state will not check to see if each signer is a registered voter, but will eliminate duplicate signatures.

  1. The article says there may be as many as 1.5 million signatures on 6 petitions, one for the governor, one for the lieutenant governor, and for 4 senators.

With 300,000 pages (only 5 signatures per page) I’d suspect that the possibility of duplicates would be higher.

  2. Any CRIMINAL punishment in EVERY STATE for signing a petition more than ONCE ???

    — a basic DEMOCRACY self-defense item.

See notary public stuff — SERIOUS business.

Gee – why did the ancient Greek city-states have the DEATH Penalty for folks voting, etc. when such folks were NOT city-state citizens ??? Duh.
