U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas recently predicted that Texas may need to postpone its April 3 primary to a later date. See this story. Any further postponement will require the state to revise its procedures for independent presidential candidates, and perhaps for newly qualifying parties as well.

    NO primary was held in 1996.

    Jungle primary in Nov 1996 with a top 2 runoff in Dec 1996 if no majority winner in the Nov election. The regime survived in 1997-1998.

    In the 14 districts which were redrawn, the primary results were discarded, and a special election held coincident with the November general election.
