As has been reported earlier, Stephen Colbert is not on the ballot in the South Carolina Republican presidential primary, but he holds himself out as a candidate in that primary. Write-ins are not allowed, so Colbert is asking his voters to vote for Herman Cain, who is on the ballot. Cain seems happy with this and is even planning a joint appearance in South Carolina with Colbert, according to this story.
But the story also says the Democratic Party of South Carolina is unhappy with Colbert, and urges non-Republicans not to vote in the Republican presidential primary. Unlike Virginia Democrats, who don’t have a presidential primary, South Carolina Democrats do have a presidential primary, but only President Obama is on their ballot.
Libertarian Party sets up road blocks to liberty:

James Ogle is the only L out of 15 Ds and Rs, on the ballot in Missouri’s upcoming primary and was one of the candidates removed from contention even though he meets all criteria, while Gary Johnson’s name remains linked to the Libertarian’s 2012 presidential candidates page and yet he’s listed on the same Missouri February primary ballot as a R.
But Gary Johnson is on the ballot in the California Libertarian Party presidential primary, along with James Ogle and others.
The more LUNATIC stunt MORONS running for Prez, then the quicker the entire EVIL E.C. mess will be abolished.
P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.
@1 Johnson has no choice in being listed in Missouri.
His website, media interviews etc clearly state he is now a candidate for the LP and only the LP
Ogle doesn’t meet the criteria
Filed to run for president with the F.E.C. as a Libertarian
Seeking the nomination of the Libertarian Party exclusively
Dues-paying member of the National Libertarian Party
Campaign website is current with contact information
As for South Carolina Democrats, they can pound sand.
Go Colbert/Cain!
Yeah, Bob Barr also (after his GOP career was pretty much over) became a Libertarian and managed to win the party’s nomination for President.
I suspect that is probably what is happening with the former Governor of New Mexico, although the Governor did actually make quasi-libertarian statements with regards to pot and gay marriage, so is overnight transformation may not be as ‘magical’.
I wonder if Perry dropped out to avoid the embarassment of losing to Cain/Colbert.
@5 Johnson has been an LP member since 1993 although he only paid his dues one year
@6 Yep
