On January 31, the Kentucky presidential primary ballots were set. The Republican ballot will list Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, and uncommitted. The Democratic ballot will list President Obama and uncommitted.
Presidential candidates get on Kentucky primary ballots by presenting evidence that they are on the ballot in at least 20 other states, and by paying a filing fee of $1,000. The Kentucky primary is May 22.

Actually, Kentucky has 4 ways of getting on the presidential primary ballot, all of which require the $1,000 fee:
1. Be on 20 other states — as far as I know, only Alan Keyes in 2008 has used this method.
2. Be eligible for federal matching funds
3. Be mentioned frequently in the media (nominated by Kentucky State Board of Elections) — all candidates this year used this method
4. Submit 5,000 signatures of voters in the same party; out-of-state petitioners are not allowed. (In the past, some candidates who could have used a different method, used this method in order to get a mailing list.)
An official of the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office told me that all the candidates who got on this year used the 20-state method.
