Virginia permits stand-in presidential and vice-presidential candidates on the petitions of unqualified parties. The Virginia Green Party wants to start early, so it has printed up petitions listing Jill Stein for President, and Howie Hawkins for Vice-President. Hawkins has not said he wants the Green Party vice-presidential nomination, but he consented to be listed at least as a stand-in.
The Green Party won’t know who it will be running until its national convention in Baltimore, July 13-15.
Well they could certainly do a lot worse. By the way I just read that Roseanne Barr will be shooting pilot for a new series soon. Seems like an odd thing to be doing while running for President. Sounds like she doesn’t expect to get the nomination.
What, you mean Chuck Baldwin wasn’t good enough for them this time? Oh yeah, I forgot, he is now a Republican in Montana.
Jeff, that’s the “Independent Greens,” who aren’t affiliated with the Green Party. And bruuno…on Roseanne’s twitter, she said that she doesn’t expect to win and will support Jill Stein.
