Oklahoma’s March 6 Democratic presidential primary ballot contained the names of five candidates. President Obama’s four opponents cumulatively polled 43% of the vote: Randall Terry 18.02%; Jim Rogers 13.79%; Darcy Richardson 6.39%; Bob Ely 4.72%.
Under Oklahoma Democratic Party rules, anyone who polls as much as 15% in the presidential primary is entitled to a delegate. Randall Terry’s entire presidential campaign is dedicated to the cause of making all abortion illegal.
Rogers topped 15-20% in most of the state’s Congressional districts. The way I’m reading the rules, both Terry and Rogers should each win a handful of delegates.
The Democratic machine wants you to believe that Randall Terry is not really a Democrat, yet a look at his platform on his website reveals that other than abortion, he is very much a Democrat — he strongly favors an active United Nations for example.
If Terry is not a Democrat, then no pro-life Catholic is.
Terry ran for State Senate in Florida, in a district I live in, touting himself as a Ronald Reagan conservative.
Is there any chance that the Democratic National Convention’s credentials committee could reject the delegates for Terry and Rogers?
What rights does one delegate have at the Democratic Convention? Can he or she alone nominate a candidate, or only cast their vote for their candidate?
But like Joshua has already written, you can be sure the DNC will find a way to not allow such delegate to be seated – even though Democratic voters elected them. Such hypocrites!
