A reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, Carolyn Lochhead, has this story about the U.S. Senate race in California, with a focus on whether Orly Taitz will finish second to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in the June 5 top-two “open primary”. The link does not go to the Chronicle, but to another newspaper, which also carried the story.
That would be a fun trainwreck to watch.
Cheers!
This may make some reconsider the whole “top two” primary system which would be a plus.
Given that the April 2nd Survey USA Poll had 14 candidates within the margin of error for second place its impossible to say at all who will get second place. There are Libertarian and American Independent candidates within the margin of error as well.
So what, Feinstein is 100% certain to win re-election in any case.
And here’s a US Senate race train wreck that happened without benefit of “top two.”:

What reformer folks in CA have ANY math brain cells ???
Democracy = Majority Rule = life and rational laws
monarchy/oligarchy = minority rule — i.e. tyrants and death and slavery and loot- the- treasury special interest gangs.
Gee — which of the two systems has been going on in the U.S.A. since 4 July 1776 ???
@5 — which of the two regimes? None. The USA is a Federal Republic. That’s what the framers of the Constitution created.
# 6 Spare me and us.
50 ANTI-Democracy minority rule gerrymander Legislatures in the 50 States.
3 ANTI-Democracy minority rule election systems in the Fed regime – H. Reps, Senate (semi-permanent), Electoral College.
Result – the now total powermad monarchy/oligarchy EVIL in Devil City.
Sorry – too many of the 1787 Federal Convention folks were robot party hacks — i.e. monarchs/oligarchs.
P.R. did NOT come along until circa 1840s — repeat 1840s
— i.e. gerrymanders were totally entrenched by then.
Two results – the free/slave States stuff to 1861 — and of course the mass deaths (circa 750,000) in the horrific 1861-1865 Civil War.
The 1865 winning Elephant robot party hacks kept the gerrymander structures — setting the stage for the 2012 chaos.
