  1. More EVIL distraction from the EVIL rigged gerrymander districts — as in Maryland.
    —-
ALL govts spending — NOW 2012 — about $ 18,000 plus for each person, young or old — per year.

Per family per year — circa $ 50,000 plus.

    Per actual qualified Elector-Voter — perhaps $ 80,000 plus (???) govt spending.

The $50 voucher is EVIL moronic — one more EVIL distraction from econ reality.

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  2. I might support this , or any other kind of public funding of elections, if it were to be instituted along with the total abolition of private funding of elections. Otherwise, this is like a kid in an ice cream shop asking if he can have sprinkles on top of his 50 scoop banana, fudge and whipped cream “ice cream barge.”

The other parts of the proposal, intended to counteract the influence of PACS on elections, actually evoke gut-busting laughter.

  3. $50 x 200,000,000 adult citizens = $10 billion for each election. Think of the fraud that this will engender. Everybody and his mother will become candidates with kickbacks of real money to those who tender their $50 coupon. Sarbanes is an idiot with no understanding whatsoever about the 1st amendment, or the rest of the constitution for that matter. Actually it’s worse than that – his disdain for the Constitution is right up there with GWB’s “it’s just a goddamn piece of paper”.

  4. 1) I think this will be sorely abused. 2) Where in the heck does he think this money is going to come from? Are we going to implement a new $50 surtax to fund this?

  5. So Rep Sarbanes thinks a “voucher” to give to politicians is a good thing. Wonder if he thinks it is a good idea to give parents a voucher so that they can take their children out of the failing government schools and buy a real education for them?
