The deadline has now passed for independent presidential candidates, and the presidential nominees of unqualified parties, to submit petitions in the District of Columbia. The Libertarian Party submitted the only presidential petition.
The three ballot-qualified parties in D.C., which did not need to submit a petition, are the Democratic, Republican, and Green Parties.
Richard, isn’t the Libertarian Party making an effort in D.C. to become a ballot-qualified party?
Yes, if the Libertarian Party receives at least 7,500 votes for either President or Delegate to U.S. House, it will become ballot-qualified for the first time ever in D.C.
Other minor parties that have held party status in D.C., since D.C. starting holding elections for partisan office, include the Green Party, the Statehood Party (back before it merged with the Green Party), the Umoja Party, the Socialist Workers Party, and the U.S. Labor Party.
I doubt the LP will become ballot qualified in DC. DC is a hot-bed for left leaning pro-socialist economic candidates (just my personal summation).

@3 – Bruce Majors is running for Delegate as a Libertarian, 7500 votes is very plausible.
@5 I agree. He needs to do some door-to-door work though but think how much time and trouble he would save the LP if he got and retained ballot access.

#10, yes, that is 9,000 for Gary Johnson. The Major petition needs exactly 3,000 signatures (a smaller requirement than the presidential petition, which is probably unconstitutional) and Major submitted 4,400.
So Major is on the ballot?
