On August 22, the Republican Party activists who are challenging the Libertarian statewide Pennsylvania petition asked the Libertarian Party to withdraw the petition, but the Libertarians refused. The Republicans said if the petition were withdrawn today, they would not seek court costs.
Meanwhile, a U.S. District Court is expected to rule soon on whether the Republican challengers will be permitted to intevene in the federal lawsuit that argues the challenge/fee system violates the U.S. Constitution.
Screw the Republicans. they got some balls. Thank you Richard for sharing this. This is what will win over votes to the Gary Johnson side when mainstream people see how corrupt Republicans are and realize they really don’t safeguard our Liberties and rights.
The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania turned in more signatures than the Constitution Party of Pennsylvania, so there’s a chance that they could survive the challenge even if their validity is bad. Their validity rate will have to be pretty low for them to get knocked off the ballot.

Richard… if the LP is successful in achieving enough valid signatures despite the GOP challenege, does the group representing the GOP have to pay the costs? I understood that they do not but over ar IPR that was questioned and I have no facts to back up what I assumed. What are the facts here? Thanks.

This is exactly true. The LP’s hope is sheer numbers. I was in Philly Monday and Tuesday and I was told that the LP validation rate was somewhat worse than ours (CP) [though as a disclaimer, this came to me second hand]. If their Philadelphia petitioner was who I think it was, I believe they may be in serious trouble on validity. In any case, I do wish them well.
Finally, I would like to thank an unknown Libertarian and Robert Small of the Green Party (and leader of the Pennsylvania Ballot Acccess Coalition) for sitting in for us when we were short a couple of people for a period of time.
I would also like to thank the CP team that came from all over the state to represent our party in Philadelphia.
