Pennsylvania Supreme Court Expedites Case on Government Photo-ID Requirement for Voters at Polls

On August 23, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court expedited Applewhite v Pennsylvania, 71 MAP 2012. This is the case over whether the new government photo-ID law violates the Pennsylvania Constitution. All briefs will be in by September 7.

  1. Article I, Section 5 of the PA constitution:

    “Elections shall be free and equal; and no power, civil or military, shall at any time interfere to prevent the free exercise of the right of suffrage.”

    Anybody know how many Republican hacks sit on the PA Supreme Court? If it’s a majority, they will uphold the Republican bloodless coup against democracy.

  2. Mr. Winger…you are strangely silent here. Do you still hold to the ridiculous, indefensible position that these voter ID laws could disadvantage Democratic voters as much as Republican voters?
