I might sound hopeful but Johnson pulling in at least 10% in New Mexico would be a great accomplishment. I mean Perot got 16.12% in 1992.
Well, based upon this poll, there certainly isn’t any reason to “waste your vote” on Romney unless he truly is your favorite choice.
@2 hahaha absolutely right on. Obama was going to win New Mexico handily anyway without Johnson so VOTE GARY JOHNSON 2012!! VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE NOT PARTY PEOPLE!!
Gawd, I couldn’t care less who wins between Obama & Romney. I just don’t get how anyone can see one as being any better than the other? Why not vote for a third choice, especially one who was a fantastic governor of NM?
Jed, I agree. It hardly matters which wing of the Statist Party wins. Still, as people truly grasp the obsolete nature of the Electoral College — it was designed for a limited-franchise, aristocratic republic and not the mass democracy we have today — it’s fun to do a little electoral jujitsu with it. Who knows, perhaps the Statist Party or more likely the people will at some point demand a change such as a straight popular vote using IRV or some other preference voting system?
There might finally be a way to break the 2 party system.
1) Focus on getting out the vote in safe GOP or safe Dem states
2) Attract all undecided voters and GOP/ Dem voters to vote third party, since the other side will win the state
3) Grassroots focus on getting nonvoters to turn out and vote third party
