Iran holds a presidential election on June 14. On May 21, the Guardian Council removed all presidential candidates from the ballot except for eight candidates who tend to support the status quo. See this story. One of the candidates removed from the ballot is himself a former President. Thanks to Ken Bush for the link.
Gee – one more TYRANT regime acting as if it is *democratic* ???
See the DEAD 1917-1991 USSR regime with its so-called elections.
That’s what happens when you have a “Supreme Leader” running things.
Talk about irony. In 2005, there was an item on this blog about Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, former president of Iran, criticizing American ballot access laws. And now here he is, getting disqualified from running for president again, due to the ballot access laws in his own country.
