North Carolina Attorney General Asks Governor to Veto Omnibus Election Law Bill

On August 9, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper asked Governor Pat McCrory to veto HB 589, the omnibus election law bill. See this story. Although Cooper is a Democrat, he is well-respected by members of both major parties. In 2012, no Republican ran against him. He is in his fourth term.

  1. 3 lawsuits have been filed so far. I’ve been asked to prepare a draft of an amicus brief for the marion county (ind) bar asociation, in the case about the state constitution. i welcome other people or groups who might want to sign onto a brief or help research or write it.
