Politico announced a new Virginia gubernatorial poll on October 7. The results: Democrat Terry McAuliffe 44%, Republican Ken Cuccinelli 35%, Libertarian Rob Sarvis 12%, undecided 8%. This poll makes it very likely that the October 24 debate will include all three ballot-listed candidates. Thanks to PoliticalWire for the link.

Nonpartisan Approval Voting for executive/judicial offices.
Might actually get some moderates elected — rather than more New Age robot party hack MONSTERS.
The poll also makes it clear that Sarvis is not “spoiling” the race.
“This poll makes it very likely that the October 24 debate will include all three ballot-listed candidates.”
They BETTER include Sarvis! Consistently polling above 10% here! Of course, knowing just how much the debate ppl want to keep the two-part monopoly stranglehold on power going, I wouldn’t be surprised if they exclude Sarvis.
If they do the right thing and include Sarvis…his poll numbers might double overnight. That would be awesome, of course. And if he got a similar percentage of the actual vote, that might get more people voting Libertarian and Green in 2014 if they started realizing that the whole “lesser of the two evils/spoiler theories” are bunk.
