Every three months, the Arizona Secretary of State releases a new voter registration tally. The October 1, 2013 figures are here. The link also shows the July 1, 2013 totals. The state’s three qualified minor parties have all increased their totals, even though the number of registered voters has declined. The number of independent voters has also increased. The number of registered Democrats and the number of registered Republicans are lower than they were three months earlier.
Interesting numbers. Have any 3rd parties come close to winning a legislative seat. The numbers seem to be against them.
There still appears to be a lot of independent voters. Given the recent increase in anger and skepticism against the Democrats and Republicans, I can see at least some of those independents voting for a third party in the next couple of years. A few more open minded people might even jump ship from the D’s and R’s. As for whether it be enough to win some legislative elections in AZ, or any other state…I’m not sure. It’s something to watch though.
Am I seeing things, or this the voter reg. numbers for the AE down to just a few hundred people state-wide?
