Indiana State Senator Mike Delph (R-Carmel) has introduced SB 35, to eliminate the straight-ticket device. He had introduced a similar bill in 2013, but it did not pass. Thanks to Craig Marolf for this news.

Straight party ballot voting is the work of the devil and Indiana legislators must be Satan’s helpers.
I wouldn’t call it the work of the devil myself but I wouldn’t want there to be straight line voting. All that does is help foster 19th C ward style politics.
I would rather have people who think about who they are voting for rather than simply pull a lever and select all representatives of a particular party.
