  1. And he’s running as a Libertarian? Interesting. I’ve always thought that it was folly for Greens to outright dislike Libertarians and vice versa. We have our disagreements, but in most cases the things we agree on outnumber the things that we disagree on, and, unlike the Establishment Democrats and Republicans, the things we agree on do not include gutting the Constitution, implementing a militaristic foreign policy, or criminalizing marijuana and locking up non-violent offenders for decades/life.
It’s news like this that makes me think that we’d stand a better chance at getting people elected to Congress and state office if we compromised enough to be able to work together. A coalition, in other words.

  2. It heartens me to hear you say that, Joshua. I agree. I don’t always agree with the Greens, but I certainly respect them, and I would hope that the inverse would be true. Mutual respect among good people who disagree is a beautiful thing.

Ending wars, protecting individuals’ privacy, marriage equality, ending prohibition are all issues where Libertarians and Greens should be able to work together in good faith. On the environment, many Libertarians & Greens are in agreement on the nature of the problem, though we may have differing views on the solution.

  3. Absolutely. In Maine, the Greens and Libertarians have worked together on ballot access and marijuana legalization. We have a lot in common.
