On August 15, the Meigs County, Ohio, Board of Elections certified Mick Davenport as an independent candidate for County Commissioner. See this story. Davenport was chair of the county Democratic Party until last year, and served as a Democratic member of the Commission for the period 1998-2010.
This will be a good race to watch. Any time an Independent who is already known by the people are on the ballot, their is chance of an upset. Whether this guy wins or loses, I hope he renains an Independent and will fight for ballot rights for Independent voters and candidates.
