There is one question I wish the Constition Party members/leaders would explain to me;
Why do you call yourself the CONSTITUTION Party and not the CONSTITUTIONAL Party? The Democrats offically are known as the DEMOCRATIC Party and the Republican Party is not known officially as the REPUBLIC Party?
If one is a Constitutionalist – as I assume members of the Constitution Party claim to be – then why not is your party properly known as the CONSTITUTIONAL PARTY?
Well, I guess nobody from the Constitution Party or the Constitutional Party cares to explain why they operate with what appears to be a “one issue” name. But whether “Constitution Party” or “Constitutional Party” is correct, I know one thing for sure. The American people are NOT going back to live as they did in the late 1700’s as the CP appears to believe in. So keep on espousing this crap about Social Security or Medicare being “unconstitutional” all you want to. The majority of the American people – including myself – don’t care. We know that a country which has moved from being an agrarian society (as it was in the late 1700’s) is today a modern industrial society, therefore federal programs such as Social Security and Medicare are necessary. And the American people keep trying to
tell the CP folks this at every electio when they only get 1 or 2 percent of the vote at most elections they enter candiates.
Sorry about the misspelling of a couple of words in my last reply. But this system keeps flickering toward the end and one can’t tell if they have misspelled or not. So in case someone thinks otherwise, I do know how to spell the words “election” and “candidates.”
Alabama Independent-
Why are you so concerned about Alaska, the AIP and CP? (Much of the history you seek is archived at BAN & IPR. Water under the bridge as they say…What are YOU doing in Alabama to promote civic involvement?
Mr. Myers: You ask a reasonable question of “why am I so concerned about Alaska, the AIP and the CP? A reasonable question which deserves a reasonable reply.
The State of Alaska is the last state in the United States which offers a real opportunity for the people to stand up to the federal government. Most of your citizens appear to be “independent” regardless of what party they operate in. I admire this. My question is, why don’t all of you 3rd parties there cooperate, and show the rest of America that you are truly united in the last state in American which has the opportunity to demonstrate some real “independence!” Which forces me to have to ask you the question of why did you leave the Alaskan Independence Party?” I understand at one time you were the State Vice-Chairman. Was there some little doctrinnal issue that the AIP held that you couldn’t grit your teeth and continue on with the greater cause? If you have/had a real good reason for leaving the AIP, then tell us (or at least me), since I may be behind some state history i.e., the 3rd parties.
Even though I have philosphical differences with both the AIP and the CP, I see not enough differences between your state organizations that you could not work together. At least in this 2014 election, neither of your two parties are competing against one another for a statewide office- and this is good. But what about the future?
Unless you know something that I do not know, the CP of Alaska is never going to replace the AIP. So why are you attempting to organize a party against the legacy of the AIP? If you have a good reason, then I will admit the error of my ignorance (or arrogance)and apologize.
You also ask, “What are YOU doing in Alabama to promote civic involvement?” Good question which deserves a good answer. I just retired this past June. Up until that time, I taught at a public community college and had to limit my political activities for various reasons. Even though I am retired, I came down last year with Tinnnitus (ringing in the ears) of which there is no cure and which can be very distressing. Still, I am in the plans of creating a website and will call for the organization of a real 3rd party in Alabama. I am willing to work with the CP of Alabama – provided they will not require me to abandon my positions on Social Security, Medicare, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Gambling.
I appreciate the fact that you would not want to give me your phone number on this blog and neither would I want to give mine. But I will attempt to get you to respond to me on the CP of Alaska email, and perhaps later we can speak at length and you can “reeducate me” as to what has been going on in Alaska (and in the AIP)which I am open to listening and learning.
I trust these answers have helped. And I hope I will hear from you again soon in a more private venue.
