On September 24, a Quinnipiac University poll was published for the Florida gubernatorial race. The results: Republican incumbent Rick Scott 44%; Democrat Charlie Crist 42%; Libertarian Adrian Wyllie 8%; undecided 6%. See more detail here. Thanks to PoliticalWire for the link.
Democratic nominee Charlie Crist may pull an upset in Florida. Only a few years ago, it looked like the GOP was going to dominate Florida politics for a generation or two, but it seems the Democrats are slowly winning back the state. In North Florida, Democrats still control most of the county offices, despite an occasional local victory for the Republicans. I think there are 1 or 2 Independent Sheriffs in North Florida. And may be 1 or 2 more other local offices which are held by an Independent. Of course in Florida, NPA is the ballot designation given to true Independent candidates.
There is also a Independent Party of Florida. Sadly, the party leadership is not doing too great of job of recruiting candidates. And when they do have a candidate, they are listed on the ballot as INT – not the traditional IND.
