On June 2, the California Assembly passed AB 1461 by a vote of 45-25. It provides that adult citizens who have a state ID card or a drivers license will be automatically registered to vote. They will be notified that they have been registered, and they will be given a form to return that lets them opt out if they wish, and also lets them choose a political party. If the individual does not respond in three weeks the registration goes into effect. Now the bill goes to the Senate.
… but no ID is required to vote because that would be racist, according to Rand Paul: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/02/rand-paul-voter-id-push-d_n_6090042.html
In 2014, a woman appeared at a DPS office in Texas seeking a Voter ID, which is free of charge for persons who do not have a Driver’s License or a Personal ID (a personal ID is like a driver’s license, but has no driving privileges associated with it).
She was asked if she had a Driver’s License and she said that she had one issued by California. She was told that Texas resident drivers are required are required to get a Texas driver’s license in a short while after moving.
She claimed that she lives in both places, and wants to be a California resident for driver’s license purposes, but a Texas resident for voting purposes.
Under the proposed law she will be automatically registered to vote in California, unless she affirmatively objects. For many persons, the temptation to vote twice will be too great.
Technically a voter can’t vote twice just because that voter votes in two different states, if “vote twice” means cast two votes for one particular office. All the offices on the ballot in one state are different offices than the offices on the ballot in any other state. This is even true in presidential elections, because the true candidates in presidential primaries are generally running for Delegate to the national convention, and the true candidates in November are the presidential elector candidates.
A person can not be domiciled in two states. If he votes in a state where he is not domiciled, he has voted illegally.
The AB1461-Automatic Voter Registration bill is wrongful for several reasons. It is important to note the amount of people who have bothered to comment in this thread.
Including me there are five. I reference this to show the amount of interest. The bill was passed under the guise of increasing voter turn out. However, for people to be involved in anything they must first be aware. More importantly, is the out reach to make aware and inform people about their duty as an American, Voting Rights, and the voting process.
The California Assembly members are well aware of the things that can be done to increase voter turn out. But doing those things could place them at risk of losing their seat and possibly the state from red to blue.
What better way to ensure their control and jobs than to allow illegal and/or undocumented immigrants the right to have a voice in country they are occupying illegally. After all it is not a secret that Democrats pander or sympathize I use the term loosely as the their false promises are given for a vote.
So, lets require everyone to register to vote and if they don’t show up they’ll cast your vote for you.
