New York Times Story Suggests Mississippi Republican Voters Influenced Outcome of Democratic Gubernatorial Primary

The New York Times of September 8 has this front-page story about the Mississippi Democratic Party’s nominee for Governor, Robert Gray. Gray won this year’s primary even though he did not campaign and his two primary opponents did campaign. The story suggests that the Democratic primary outcome was caused by Republicans voting in the Democratic primary. Mississippi has an open primary.

  1. The New York Times is hardly a reliable source. Gray won in all but two counties. He won in counties that were overwhelmingly black. He won in counties where the overwhelming majority of the population voted in the Republican primary.

    What you are suggesting is that voters should be denied the right to vote for their local officials.
