This Washington Post article quotes Larry Lessig as saying that he is thinking about running for President as an independent. He is unhappy because he is being excluded from the Democratic presidential debate of October 13. Thanks to Rick Hasen for the link.

Someone who does not plan to serve the constitutional term of four years is not a serious presidential candidate.
He could run as a Green. He could be a good candidate for them.
Why would he be better than Jill Stein?
I’m not saying Lessig would be better than Stein or any other candidate for the Green Party nomination — as the Elections Co-ordinator for the Green Party of Michigan, I try to avoid any risk of giving organizational preference to any candidates while we’re in our nomination process. But if Lessig can bring all or most of the supporters who helped him raise that $1.2 million with him, as a candidate himself or as a supporter of the party, that would be a big boost . . . for the Green Party, and for the values and issue positions we and he share.
